The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) announced on December 26, 2007 that starting from January 1, 2008, the time-limit for filing a response in reply to its office actions issued to foreign (invention and/or design) patent applicants will be extended from 60 days to 90 days. Further, if necessary, an extension of term may be filed, and the prescribed term for a foreign applicant to file a response may be extended to a total of no more than 180 days. As to a domestic applicant, the term for the response will still be 60 days and with another extension of term, the total prescribed term will be no more than 120 days.
TIPO also decided that for the previous office actions issued with the due date falling after January 1, 2008, the term of 60 days will be automatically extended to 90 days.
