The Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) recently published the number of Taiwan patent and trademark applications filed in 2024. TIPO received a total number of 72,742 patent applications including invention, utility model and design, and the numbers are not significantly different from those in 2023. The invention and design applications filed by the domestic applicants were decreased by 0.2% and 2.9%, respectively, while the number of utility model applications increased by 0.2%. The invention, utility model and design applications filed by foreign applicants were increased by 0.1%, 5.3% and 4.5%, respectively. There are 90,341 trademark applications with an annual decrease of 1.3%, among which the applications filed by the domestic applicants decreased by 3.6% but applications from foreign applicants increased by 7.05%. The following are the statistics of Taiwan patent and trademark filings in 2024.
