According to the Top 100 ranking list of patent applicants provided by Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) remains at top of the rankings among domestic and foreign applicants for Taiwan patent filings in 2022. The foreign applicant who ranked first is Applied Materials, followed by Qualcomm.
For invention patent applications that were filed mostly by top ranked applicants, the applications from domestic applicants slightly dropped by 0.75%, while the applications by foreign applicants increased by 4.3%. Notably, Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC (formerly FACEBOOK, after name change to META in October 2021) has for the first time entered the top 10 of foreign applicants and ranked 7 in the list.
